Pigment, redness, texture and laxity are different problems and they answer to different wavelengths. A device that clears brown spots does little for firmness, and one that resurfaces texture is the wrong tool for broken capillaries.
Discrete patches of pigment from cumulative sun exposure, most often on the face, chest and backs of the hands. BroadBand Light targets the pigment directly; resurfacing lasers address it alongside texture.
Diffuse damage rather than isolated spots: mottled tone, roughness, fine lines and loss of clarity across an area. Usually treated as a series rather than a single visit.
Persistent flushing, visible vessels and the background redness associated with rosacea. Light-based treatment works on the vessels themselves, which is why creams alone tend to plateau.
Surface irregularity and etched lines respond to controlled resurfacing. Depth is the variable: more correction means more downtime, and the trade is decided in the consultation.
Active breakouts and the scarring left behind are two separate problems treated on different timelines. CO2 resurfacing addresses the scarring; light-based treatment and peels work on active acne, usually alongside medical skin care.
Not a condition so much as the absence of upkeep. Regular exfoliation, peels and a considered home routine hold a result in place between the heavier treatments.

Technology and products we offer
Worth knowing
Most patients arrive asking for a device by name. We would rather examine the skin first and recommend what addresses the problem, which is sometimes a laser and sometimes not.
Come in unburned and untanned. Recent sun exposure changes what can be treated safely.
Skin tone matters. Some devices carry a meaningfully higher risk of pigment change in deeper skin tones, so the safest choice differs by patient.
Bring a full list of medications. Several affect candidacy, and some skin conditions rule a treatment out entirely.
A course of medical skin care beforehand usually improves the result and is often recommended first.
Sun protection afterward is not optional. It determines how long the result lasts.
Questions
None of them, in the abstract. The right treatment depends on what you are treating, your skin tone, and how much downtime you can accommodate. The table above is a starting point; the consultation is where it gets decided.
Frequently, yes, and combinations are often more effective than any single device. Some are performed in the same visit and others are staged weeks apart. This is planned rather than improvised.
Laser treatment improves the skin you have; it does not stop it from aging. Maintenance treatments and daily sun protection are what preserve the result.
Sensation varies by device and depth. Topical numbing is used for the more aggressive treatments, and the lighter ones are generally well tolerated without it.

A skin consultation at West Annapolis Medical Spa includes an examination and a recommendation. If a laser is not the right answer, we will tell you that.
