Lasers · Forever Bare BBL by Sciton
Forever Bare BBL treats hair in motion, with many gentle pulses rather than a few strong ones. It is more comfortable than older lasers, more even across the treated area, and there is no downtime.
Areas
Face and body, in a single appointment.
Small areas take only a few minutes. We will tell you how long your area takes, and how many sessions it is likely to need, at your consultation.
Cost depends on the area and how much of it is being treated, and the range between a chin and a full back or both legs is too wide for a published figure to be useful. You will be quoted for your own areas at your consultation, and financing is available.
How it works
Light is absorbed by the pigment in the hair and converted to heat, which disables the follicle. Older hair removal lasers deliver that energy in single high-energy pulses, which is what makes them sting and what causes uneven coverage when the handpiece is moved by hand.
Forever Bare BBL works differently. The handpiece moves continuously over the area, delivering a rapid series of lower-energy pulses. The follicle still reaches the temperature it needs, but the skin is heated gradually and evenly. Most patients describe it as warm rather than sharp.
Because every pass overlaps, the coverage is even. There are no missed stripes and no hot spots, which is the usual reason a treated area grows back patchy.
Sessions
Hair grows in cycles, and light only disables a follicle that is actively growing. At any moment only a portion of the hair in an area is in that phase, which is why one treatment thins rather than clears.
Treatments are spaced several weeks apart so that each session catches a new group of follicles as it enters the growth phase. Most areas need a course of treatments, and the number depends on the area, your hair colour and coarseness, and what you are treating it for. We will give you a realistic number at your consultation rather than a package you may not need.
Occasional maintenance sessions keep an area clear afterwards. Hormonal changes can prompt new growth, particularly on the face.
Your visit
Shave the area the day before, and do not wax, pluck or use depilatory cream for several weeks first — the follicle has to be there for the light to reach it. Avoid sun exposure and self-tanner on the area, and come without lotion or deodorant on the day.
The area may look slightly pink and feel like mild sunburn for a few hours. You can return to normal activity immediately. Treated hairs shed over the following one to three weeks, which can look like regrowth but is not. Use sunscreen on exposed areas.
A consultation tells us how your hair and skin are likely to respond, so the plan we quote is the one you actually need. Laser hair removal is one of several laser treatments we offer on the Sciton platform.
