Brow and Forehead Lifts are minimally invasive procedures designed to address the upper third of the face. The procedure has evolved greatly over the years to less invasive techniques. The goals are to smooth the forehead skin to soften fine lines and wrinkles in addition to gently elevating the brows. This results in more open upper eyelids, less heaviness in the brows and lifted appearance to the outer aspect of the eyes in the temple region.
Forehead and browlifts can be performed alone or most commonly with an upper eyelid blepharoplasty (eyelid lift).
Before & After
Specific surgical techniques
The technique we perform at the Sandel Duggal Center is an endoscopic procedure designed to minimize scarring and speed recovery. It is done under light anesthesia and usually takes less than an hour. The procedure involves small incisions placed behind the hairline without removing any hair. Then, using an endoscope, the forehead skin is gently lifted into a more pleasing position and secured in place. This procedure, sometimes combined with BOTOX® treatments, will help tighten “worry” lines and make crow’s feet disappear. The brows are slightly elevated without overcorrection.
After the surgery
There are no bandages required after the surgery. There may be some swelling and bruising during the week after the procedure. Very little scarring occurs because of the size of the incisions and the fact that they are hidden above the hairline. Sutures or clips are removed at 7 days.
“Forehead lifting is a nice complement to upper eyelid procedures. It helps patients who have been using Botox over the years to give a more long lasting result in smoothing the skin and elevating the crows feet. No longer are the days where we need long incisions… minimally invasive techniques are state-of-the-art nowadays.”
