Cheek augmentation is a surgical procedure that is performed by injecting fat or placing an implant into the cheekbone or midface area. This area is then able to be shaped and fashioned to meet your expectations. In the preliminary consultation, we will discuss your expectations and goals, review all of the treatment options available, and discuss how the procedures are performed.
Specific surgical techniques
The surgery using either a local anesthetic or general anesthesia. It is an outpatient procedure that often takes less than one hour. The incisions are made inside the upper lip and cheek which produces no visible scar. Implants are then inserted onto the bone and secured into the correct position. The incision is then closed with absorbable sutures.
After the surgery
There will be some temporary swelling and bruising that can occur within a week after your procedure. Patients typically do well with a soft diet for a few days afterwards. Sutures will dissolve within ten days after surgery. Activities can resume within a few days.
